Important information

Arrival / Provisions

On arrival you will be met by our keyholders, Claire or Hans.  We will ask you of your estimated arrival time when you confirm your booking. If you are delayed by more than half an hour we ask that you please phone our keyholders to inform them of the length of the delay.  They can be contacted on (00 351) 282332846,  Hans Mobile (00 351) 934782807 or Claire Mobile (00 351) 938 638 214

Some basic kitchen and bathroom essentials (drinking water, toilet paper etc) are provided, but remember that as you are 'self-catering' it may be advisable to bring some supplies with you.  We can provide a 'Welcome Pack', but only for guests who arrive late in the evening. This must be ordered at least 4 days in advance of arrival and costs 15 euros per person (payable to our key holders on arrival). The pack includes some basics such as bread, milk, wine, eggs, cheese, bacon, fruit juice and seasonal fruit.  We regret that we cannot customise Welcome Packs.

Cleaning

A cleaner will come into the property mid week, and linens will be changed once a week. A washing machine is available should you wish to do your own laundry. Please treat the property as you would your own and tidy up before you leave. You will be asked to pay for extra cleaning if the property is left in an unreasonable condition.

Linen/Towels

Linens (sheets, pillowcases, blankets, towels and tea towels) are provided. Pool/beach towels are not included. The owners ask that bath towels are not used by the pool or taken to the beach. Beds will be made up ready for your arrival. Cot linen will be provided on request.

Water, gas & electricity (cost inclusive)

Please use water sparingly, as long dry summers in the Algarve mean that everyone must try to conserve water where possible. During spring and summer solar panel heating will provide ample hot water for washing up and showering. On cloudy winter days water may need to be heated by electric back-up, for which there will be no additional charge. Gas provided for hob and oven.

Heating

Firewood can be purchased from the owner/keyholder for cooler spring evenings, and electric radiators are available for use in the bedrooms. Electricity costs are higher in Portugal than in the U.K. and the owners therefore ask that guests make a conscious effort to turn off radiators during the night or at times when they are out.

Television and video

Satellite television is restricted to 'free view' channels only.

Swimming & paddling pool

The pool at 'Palmeiras' will remain filtered and available for use from April to October, but will not be heated. As with all swimming pools without life guards, children/non-swimmers will need close supervision at all times.

Problems

Should you have any problems or questions during your stay at 'Palmeiras', please do not hesitate to contact the keyholders, Claire or Hans, Tel: 282 332 846 / 934 782 807. They will be on the farm to meet you when you arrive and to answer any of your questions.  They live locally and are always happy to assist.
